Lighting your way

Other than the kero and shellite pressure lamps the dearest light on the table on the home page was the headlamp seen in the above picture that I bought for $16 on ebay.

Perhaps the best torch of all is the one that leaves you with two free hands and points to where your eyes look. This new headlamp runs on the new bigger 18650 batteries that help it last longer when you need many hours of bright light.  Triple A batteries are great but don't last that long with newer powerful Led beams. Double AA is better. Having the new larger 18650 battery in Lithium packs a powerful punch giving stronger light for longer. Google "18650 battery" to learn more.  18650 means 18mm wide and 65 mm long. Some have control circuitry inside them to protect the battery from over and under charging.

All of the other torches were bought cheaply and some were converted to LED using dorcy bulbs. Look around at garage sales or specials in various places to find older or different torches. If looking at second hand ones make sure you take a spare bulb and some batteries so you can test them onsite before you buy. Op shops are good places to find that old dophin torch that you might like to convert to LED. Have fun hunting.
